Wausau Paper to sell part of its business

MOSINEE (WAOW) -- A major paper making company in Central Wisconsin wants to sell part of its business. Wausau Paper said it is looking to hand over its Print and Color division based out of Brokaw.

Just in the last year, the Mosinee-based company said its net income for color-paper products has dropped from about $13 million a year to about $5 million. Business leaders said that has been the trend over the last decade. They told Newsline 9 Wausau Paper produces about two thirds of the country's colored paper products, so they are looking for a company that will continue that business.

Wausau Paper said it does not have a timeframe for when a new company could take over. Wausau Paper leaders said the company's tissue business is still very profitable. They said they are in the process of selling the remainder of their 80-thousand acres of timber lands to use that money to expand that part of the company.
