Deputy hurt after responding to home invasion

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- A Marathon County Sheriff's deputy is recovering after he was hurt while responding to a home invasion. It happened Monday afternoon on East Wausau Avenue near Gilbert Street. Authorities said Deputy Bill Millhausen chased the suspect. Then the deputy used a taser, but the suspect still ran away.

"The officer then physically tried to hold the individual down at which time there was a struggle. The deputy was injured during that struggle and the individual was able to get up and flee," said Lt. Dale Wisnewski.

Authorities said the deputy will not be able to return to work for at least two weeks because of a knee injury. They said they are still following up on leads to try to track down the suspect.
