STEVENS POINT (WAOW)--The UPS processing facility in Stevens Point was temporarily shut down early Wednesday morning after an employee noticed what he believed to be spilled mercury.

According to communications supervisor Justin Luther, the employee noticed what was later confirmed as a few droplets of mercury on a landing dock outside of the complex around 1:45 a.m. The company shut down the facility for clean up.

Luther says two third party contractors cleaned up the mercury and tested the area.

He says normal operations resumed around 8:00 a.m. Wednesday morning.
