Wis. gov says Capitol carry policy coming

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Gov. Scott Walker says his administration plans to release its policy on concealed weapons in state buildings on Friday.

The governor didn't describe the policy during a short question-and-answer period with reporters Thursday. But he says he's not worried about people who go through training and obtain permits causing problems. He says 48 other states with similar concealed carry laws haven't experienced problems.

Asked if the policy might call for metal detectors at the state Capitol, Walker didn't answer directly, saying the building operates fine right now.

The Assembly Committee on Organization is expected to consider a concealed weapons policy for the Assembly chamber and galleries later Thursday. The Assembly's Republican leaders have declined to discuss the policy ahead of the committee meeting.

Wisconsin's new concealed carry law starts Tuesday.
