Rapids leaders search for new housing director

WISCONSIN RAPIDS (WAOW) -- Wisconsin Rapids leaders have started the search for a new housing authority executive director.

This announcement comes after the former director, Jeffrey Raasch, resigned amid accusations of child pornography charges earlier this year. Raasch is scheduled for a plea hearing next week. He originally pleaded not guilty to five counts of having child pornography. If convicted -- he faces 25-years behind bars and $500,000 in fines.

City leaders originally considered combining the position with the redevelopment authority but decided against it. The salary for the position starts at about $60,000 a year. The city's human resources department is coordinating the hiring efforts.
