MEDFORD (WAOW)--Winter weather is just around the corner and a pair of brothers are helping make the snowy season more fun. Brent and Brian Hallgren are the two-man operation behind Northern Lites Snowshoes.
"We just kind of fell into it," said Brian. They twins took over the company in June. The snowshoes are marketed as some of the lightest in the world--and the Hallgrens said they have a following.
The brothers are avid snowshoers and were using the product before they bought the company. "It's a passion spilling over into a business," said Brian.
They put together each pair, some steps completely by hand, at their warehouse in Medford. The Hallgrens said the main features that make their snowshoes so light and so fast are aluminum alloy frames and easy-on, easy-off bindings.
There are seven different versions of Northern Lites, ranging from designs made for racing, to those made for search and rescue teams.
"It's a great activity. We're passionate about running on them, walking on them," said Brian.
