Hundreds pack funeral of slain Racine toddler

RACINE, Wis. (AP) -- More than 250 people have packed a Racine church to say goodbye to a 2-year-old girl who was the victim of alleged child abuse.

Two pink balloons floated above a small, white coffin carrying the body of Donnasia Jackson.

The girl died Oct. 20 at Children's Hospital of Wisconsin in Wauwatosa as a result of extensive injuries authorities say she suffered the day before.

Donnasia's funeral was held Monday at St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church.

The Journal Times ( ) reports the girl's grandmother thanked family, friends and the community for their support.

Twenty-one-year-old Andre Knighton remains in the Racine County Jail on $500,000 bond in the child's death.

Knighton was the boyfriend of the girl's mother. Donnasia's 22-year-old mother has not been charged in her daughter's death.
