Federal Phy Ed Grant For Wausau Schools

WAUSAU (WAOW)--The Wausau School District receives a $1.7 million dollar federal grant to upgrade physical education classes. The PEP or Physical Education Program money comes from the U.S.  Department of Education.

Darci Mick Beversdorf, the project coordinator, says the grant will get students off to a good start in life:"It is a K-12 grant and will improve life long fitness and wellness in our students."

The  grant is slated to run for three years. It  will provide curriculum training for teachers and possibly buy new equipment. One area targeted for improvement is the weight room at Wausau West High School.

The district plans to partner with the Boys and Girls Club and Wausau Hmong Mutual Association to reach the greatest potential number of children.
