Milwaukee's New NWL Team Rooted in Former Brewer's Wausau Visit
MEQUON (WAOW) - The Northwoods League expanded into Milwaukee on Tuesday, as Brewers Hall of Famer Robin Yount helped introduce the new Lakeshore Chinooks to the public. Yount and Bob Uecker are both minority owners of the new wood bat college summer league baseball team. The Chinooks will play at the brand new stadium at Concordia University in Mequon.
Yount was asked if his interest in the team had anything to do with Jim Gantner's ties to the NWL. Gantner was the manager of the Woodchucks for 2 seasons. Yount replied that he once came to Wausau (in June of 2008) to throw out the first pitch and take in a 'Chucks game, and that he was familiar with the league ever since.
