MENOMONIE, Wis. (AP) -- It turns out that a missing windmill in western Wisconsin was not stolen after all.
Dunn County Sheriff Dennis Smith says his office learned Wednesday that the property owner had given permission to a family member to sell the windmill to a friend.
On Tuesday, a different family member reported the windmill had been stolen. Smith says that family member didn't know that the windmill was being sold.
The windmill stood 35 to 40 feet tall and was located about 10 miles southwest of Menomonie.
