Annual Wausau Ski Swap

WAUSAU (WAOW) -- Out with the old and in with the new and lightly used, hundreds lined up in Marathon Park to get good deals on winter sporting equipment.

Grant and Carter Olson started skiing when they were four-years-old, that's thanks to their father, a high school ski coach.

"Naturally fell in love going to the hill every Saturday and Sunday, and being with him just brought us closer as a family and close on the hill," said Grant Olson at the Wausau Ski Swap.

The brothers came to the ski swap looking to sell some of their extra equipment, "We have a whole room at our house dedicated to ski equipment and it's just packed. it's nice to get rid of some of the stuff we don't use anymore."

And because of organizers, their items were priced, tagged and ready for someone else to own.

"This is such a good value and some hidden treasures, you can not go wrong shopping at a ski swap," said Andrew Schmidt, President of the Rib Mountain Ski Club.

Schmidt said the money spent at the Wausau Ski Swap will help out ski teams in the area, "People bring in their equipment to sell the used equipment and that's how they fund their programming, training and other events."

He said 20 percent of each item sold will go to ski clubs and high school teams.

With new gear for this winter, all you need is fresh snow to hit the slopes.
