DELAFIELD, Wis. (AP) -- Authorities are identifying the woman who drove the wrong way for eight miles on Interstate 94 before killing herself and the driver of another vehicle in a head-on collision early Saturday.
The Waukesha County sheriff's department identifies her as 44-year-old Dawn M. Ewing of Pewaukee.
Capt. Frank McElderry tells the Journal Sentinel (http://bit.ly/UBWkv) that officials aren't sure why Ewing drove the wrong way. The investigation is ongoing and the results of toxicology tests are pending.
At least four squad cars tried in vain to stop Ewing before the fatal crash.
Both drivers died at the scene in the town of Delafield. The other driver was 41-year-old Brian St. Germaine of Watertown.
The eastbound lanes of I-94 were shut down for more than three hours while authorities investigated the crash.
