Antigo school referendum fails

ANTIGO (WAOW) -- The school referendum in Antigo has been voted down.

The school district was asking for $24 million for a new, central elementary building. Newsline 9 has learned more than 2,100 voters said no to the new building. About 2,000 residents voted in favor of it.

District leaders said they still plan to have all students going to class within the Antigo city limits by 2013. They say four rural schools will be closing.
