Phyllis Ann Niewinski


Phyllis Ann Niewinski, 75 of Rothschild, passed away peacefully Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 5, 1936 in Wausau, daughter of the late Lawrence and Garnet (Borchardt) Hoffman. She married Chester "Chet" Niewinski on January 25, 1958 in Wabasha, Minn.

Phyllis loved her family, and cherished her role as a homemaker. She kept a tidy home, and took great care of all her belongings, as she and her husband worked very hard for all that they had. She was a proud woman who took great pride in her appearance. Phyllis loved animals, especially her daughter's cat Norman, who was always there to greet her when she came home. She enjoyed watching the Animal Planet Channel, especially the animal rescue programs. She also had a great love of butterflies.

Survivors include her husband Chet, Rothschild; one son, Jeffery Scott Niewinski, Rochester, Minn.; one daughter, Candace Ann Niewinski, Rothschild; three grandchildren, Zachary Scott (Melanie) Niewinski, St. Paul, Minn., Taylor Scott Niewinski, Littleton, Colo., and Shea Lawrence Balz, Rothschild; one great-granddaughter, Aurora Belle Niewinski, St. Paul, Minn.; two brothers, Gary (Lois) Hoffman, Cross Plains, and Ross (Christy) Hoffman, Wausau; and her special friend, Florence Seidens who was always there to listen, and had a special way of understanding her feelings.

She was preceded in death by her parents, an uncle, Walter "Andy" Hoffman, her best friend, Peggy Schroeter, and dear friend and neighbor, Linda Green.

Funeral service will be held at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, 503 Schmidt Ave. Rothschild. Rev. Rich Block will officiate. Burial will be at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Wausau. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the church.

Brainard Funeral Home – Everest Chapel, Weston is assisting the family with arrangements.
