Eloyce J. Mason, age 87, passed away Wednesday evening November 8, 2011, at the Stevens Point Care Center under the care of Ministry Home Hospice.
Funeral services for Eloyce will be held at 11:30 AM Friday November 11, 2011 at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Rev. Thomas Petersen will officiate. Visitation will be from 10:30 AM to the time of services at the church. Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family.
Eloyce was born in Schofield, WI, on January 28, 1924 to Arnold and Hertha (Disher) Wendorf. She graduated from Wausau High School, where she met her future husband, Robert Jon Mason. They married in California during WWII. While Jon was stationed in the Philippines, Eloyce worked in an ammunition factory in Flint, Michigan. After the war, Eloyce and Jon lived in Wausau, WI, where their daughters, Suzanne (Roy) Wiczek of Lawton, OK, and Dixie (Richard) Roe of Portage, WI, were born. The family moved to Stevens Point in 1953, where Eloyce worked as a nurse at St. Michaels Hospital until she retired. Her husband preceded her in death in 1992. Eloyce loved sports, and spent many hours bowling, curling, golfing, and watching football. Her needlecraft was admired by all.
Eloyce, an only child, is survived by her two daughters, five grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
