Ernest 'Ernie' A. Easker, 89, Hatley, died Thursday, November 10, 2011 at Ministry St. Clare's Hospital, Weston. He was born February 19, 1922 in Hatley, the son of the late Frank and Celia (Milanowski) Easker. Ernie worked at Schlitz Brewery, Milwaukee prior to entering the military. He served in the US Army during WWII. After an honorable discharge, Ernie attended vocational school in Wausau. On October 25, 1947, Ernie was united in marriage to Beatrice 'Bea' Gawlikoski at St. Adalbert's Catholic Church, town of McMillan, Marathon County. She survives.
The couple farmed in the town of Norrie for many years until their retirement. Ernie also owned and operated Ernie Easker Excavating. He was a lifelong member of St. Florian's Catholic Church, Hatley where he ushered for many years. He was also a member of the Hatley American Legion Post #471. Ernie was past treasurer of Bass Lake Sportsman's Club and loved hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed traveling, especially to Las Vegas, history, reading, and music. He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family and all the family 'get togethers'.
Ernie is survived by his wife of 64 years, Beatrice 'Bea' Easker, three daughters; Phyllis (Harley) Baumann, Schofield, Cathleen (Anthony) Zanghi, Coopersburg, PA and Helen (Ralph) Damask, Hatley, three granddaughters; Nicole (Eric) Budleski, Ann Baumann and Victoria Zanghi, two great granddaughters; Sonja Budleski and Lauren Budleski, one brother, Kenneth (Phyllis) Easker, Schofield and one sister; Irene Kudronowicz, Schofield and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Ernie was preceded in death by 10 brothers and sisters.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 12, 2011 at St. Florian Catholic Church, Hatley. Fr. Jerzy Rebacz will concelebrate the service with Fr. Mario Malek of Austria. Interment will be in the parish cemetery with military rites by the American Legion. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9am until the time of service at the church.
