MARSHFIELD (WAOW) -- A 16-year-old Clark County girl who led Marshfield police on a 15-mile chase Thursday has turned herself in, according to the Marshfield police chief.

Chief Gary Jepsen told Newsline 9 the girl had run away about six weeks ago. A Marshfield officer spotted her sitting in her aunt's car outside a restaurant just after 10:30 a.m. Thursday. When the officer approached the car, Jepsen said, the girl slid over to the driver side and took off.

Two officers pursued her for about 15 miles before calling the pursuit off due to safety concerns, said Jepsen.

Jepsen said the girl tried to hit both squad cars during the chase. Police have requested charges of recklessly endangering safety against the girl.

Chief Jepsen told Newsline 9 the girl turned herself in Friday afternoon in Clark County.
