Colby, Greenwood-Granton excited for state

(WAOW) - The Colby football team is headed back to the division five state championship for the second straight season. They'll face Lancaster Thursday at 4 p.m.

Saturday, the Hornets avenged last year's state title loss to Brillion by beating the Lions 15-7 in level four.

Now, back in the state title, the Hornets are using last year's championship loss as motivation to finish the job this time around.

Greenwood-Granton will face Seneca for the division seven state title on Thursday morning.

In 2009, their first season as a co-op team, the Indians finished the year 0-9, but with plenty of freshmen and sophomores starting on that team, G2 knew its record could only go up.

Now upperclassmen, those players not only have a better record, they're one win away from a gold ball.
