Wayne K. Myers, a resident of Wausau for 68 years, died November 5, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Wayne was born June 14, 1920, in Faribault, Minnesota. He was the only child of Clarence and Mabel Myers. Wayne attended Carlton College, Northfield, Minnesota. He married Geraldine Martig in 1939. Geri died last year ending a marriage of over 70 years.
Wayne is survived by sons James(wife Ann) of Vass, N. C. and Michael(wife Diane) of Gilbert, Az.; grandchildren Kristi Myers Bryant of Virginia Beach, Va., James Myers of North Augusta, S. C., John Myers of Raleigh, N. C. and David Myers of Gilbert, Az.; great grandchildren Cameron and Kelly Bryant of Virginia Beach, Va.
Upon moving to Wausau in 1943 Wayne worked as a sales representative for Western Chemical Company, Kansas City, Missouri. He excelled at that position, earning many accolades and being nicknamed "the King" by his employer and his peers. Wayne was a long time member of the Wausau Country Club, Wausau Curling Club and the Elks Club. He belonged to the Camelback Golf Club in Scottsdale, Az. and served as the chairman of the Wisconsin AAA advisory board. He founded the Wausau School Safety Patrol serving as President and chief fundraiser for 53 years. Wayne was an accomplished curler and golfer, an avid fisherman, hunter and Packer fan.
Wayne was devoted to and provided well for his family.
A memorial service will be held at noon, Thursday, December 8 at the Brainard Funeral Home, 522 Adams St., Wausau. Visitation will begin at 10:00 AM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Wausau Curling Club.
