TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) -- Border Patrol agents working in southern Arizona arrested a Nicaraguan national previously convicted in Wisconsin for a homicide.
Federal authorities say 32-year-old Isaac Gutierrez-Blandon was among a group of suspected illegal immigrants captured Monday night near Why.
During processing, agents found that Gutierrez-Blandon was arrested by the Waupaca County, Wis., Sheriff's Department in July 2007, and was sentenced to six years in prison.
His criminal record was discovered using a fingerprint identification system. Gutierrez-Blandon now faces federal prosecution for re-entry of an aggravated felon followed by a formal removal from the country.
