Walker signs bill change date of primary

Gov. Scott Walker has signed into law a bill changing Wisconsin's fall primary date from September to August.

The primary is currently the second Tuesday in September, about a month and half before the November general election. The bill moves it a month earlier to comply with federal deadlines related to sending and receiving ballots to overseas and military voters.

The bill also allows for ballots to be emailed to those overseas military voters, but not to anyone who asks as Democrats had wanted.

Walker signed the bill on Wednesday.
