WINONA, Minn. (AP) -- The shipping season is coming to an end on the Upper Mississippi River in Winona.
Larry Laber with the CHS terminal in the commercial harbor tells KAGE-AM they expect to shut down operations next Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving.
Laber says the barge lines want to be gone by Thanksgiving weekend.
Regardless, the shipping season will have to end by Dec. 6. That's when Lock 6 at Trempealeau, Wis., is scheduled to be pumped empty of water for winter cleaning and repairs.
