WAUSAU (WAOW)--As many of their husbands leave to go hunting, these women of Wausau party.
City Grill hosted the 3rd annual "Girls are Meaner" party. It's a party that doubles as a fundraiser.
The event is held every year to raise money for charities. This year the party benefits the YWCA and its anti-bullying program.
Newsline 9 attended one of the anti-bullying classes a few weeks ago.
The YWCA reports 90% of 4th - 8th graders say they have been a victim of bullying."About 160,000 kids across the country skip school everyday because of fear of being bullied." Says Ann Saris, executive director, Wausau YWCA, "So it really is a cancer."The "Bullying is Never Cool" program visits around 75 schools in Central Wisconsin every year. Saris says the program needs around $8,000 - $10,000 to run. This fundraiser helps make that possible.Last year, the "Girls are Meaner" party raised $1,460.
