WAUSAU (WAOW) -- The Elk's Lodge in Wausau is doing their part to help those in need this holiday season.
The lodge are asking for deer hide donations. Each hide donated is made into a pair of wheelchair gloves for disabled veteran in the area. Elk Lodge officials say each hide can make four pairs of gloves.
"It's an easy way for someone local to do something that stays in our community and helps take care of the people that have protected us for a long time," Elks member Chuck Berens said.
The drop off box is located on the corner of 5th and Scott street. Any hide material that is not used for gloves will be made into leather and re-used in the community.
The lodge hopes to get enough hide to make 600 pairs of gloves.
