RIB MOUNTAIN (WAOW)--With many stores starting opening hours earlier than usual this Black Friday, you may need an extra jolt to shop until sunrise. Perhaps a seven shot latte complete with caramel sauce and a boost of energy will do the trick?
It's called the "Black Friday," and Biggby will be serving up the eight dollar drink on the biggest shopping day of the year.
"I wouldn't touch it myself," said Store Manager Lindsey Westberg. She will be up bright and early Friday morning to greet customers with a smile, and some caffeine.
She said she has been preparing for lots of customers on Black Friday morning. "I've basically been preparing for worst-case scenario. Ordering extra food, extra milk and all of my flavorings. As much as I can," she said."
Retailers are getting ready for large crowds, too. "We hire additional labor. We have probably another 30 people that are hired for the holiday season," said Best Buy manager Amanda Sullivan. She's no stranger to Black Friday madness, adding that the store amps up security for the biggest shopping day of the year.
"With the higher volume of customers we also have a higher volume of employees. Customers come first and we just really focus on deterring theft," she said.
Wausau police are also stepping up staff for Black Friday. They say traffic jams downtown are a main concern. "And as a result of the traffic congestion, we do see an increase in traffic crashes in that area,' said Lieutenant Matt Barnes.
While the lines at many stores will be long on Black Friday, store managers have some advice to brave the wait. "Dress warm and drink lots of caffeine," said Sullivan.
