Sylvester C. Esker, 91, Schofield, died Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at Aspirus Hospice House, Wausau.
He was born November 27, 1919 to the late Michael and Ann (Trzebiatowski) Esker in the Town of Reid. He married Lucy Sabolic on September 4, 1943 in Wausau. She preceded him in death on March 30, 2005.
Sylvester was proud of being an independent and self sufficient farmer and he took special care of his animals. He loved to fish, hunt, play cards and enjoyed traveling, especially to Brownsville, Texas where he spent many winters with his wife, Lucy.
Survivors include four sons, James (Carol) Esker, Schofield; David (Laure) Esker, Mosinee; John (Linda) Esker, Schofield; and Patrick (Julie) Esker, Withee; one daughter, Kathleen (Tom) Clairmore, Mosinee; nine grandchildren; one great grandchild; four step grandchildren; and one sister, Ann Morien, Wausau.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Stanley, Edwin and Felix and five sisters, Emily, Francis, Martha, Delphine and Dorothy.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at Saint Agnes Catholic Church, 6101 Zinser Street, Weston. The Rev. Alan Burkhardt will celebrate. Visitation will be held Friday, November 25, from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Brainard Funeral Home – Everest Chapel, 5712 Memorial Court, Weston with a prayer service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will be held again beginning at 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the church on Saturday. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
