Recall volunteers look to get signatures during Black Friday

WISCONSIN (CNN) -- Wisconsin Democrats are taking their effort to unseat Governor Scott Walker to shopping malls on Black Friday.  They plan to ask shoppers to sign a petition to recall the first-term Republican governor.

They're upset that Walker signed a law in March, cutting state workers' collective bargaining rights.

Christine Neumann-Ortiz, a recall volunteer says, "Lots of people are going to be out, obviously, doing their shopping and we want to make it easy for people who have not yet signed the recall petition."

There are more than fifty Black Friday recall events listed on the Democratic party's webpage.  Most are outside stores and malls across the state.  Like many of the stores, some of the events are starting at midnight.

Some retailers are forbidding recall volunteers from getting signatures on their property because they don't allow soliciting of any kind.  Volunteers say they understand the policies and plan to stay on public land.

Those against Walker have until mid-January to collect more than 540,000 signatures.
