Florida A&M marching band director fired

FLORIDA (CNN) -- A major shake-up in Florida A and M University's music program after the hazing-linked death of a drum major.

The school president has moved to dismiss the marching band's longtime director Julian E. White.

School officials say hazing had grown out of control within The Marching 100 and that's why White has to go.

Robert Champion, 26, became sick and died Saturday night after a game.  The drum major's cause of death has been ruled inconclusive but officials suspect hazing is involved.

The band is currently suspended from performing while the investigation into Champion's death continues.
