WAUSAU (WAOW)--Granite Peak Ski Area at Rib Mountain, has opened for the Thanksgiving holiday weekend. The hill's Operations Manager, Vicki Baumann, says they are extremely pleased with the turnout on opening day, "We've had people from Indiana and throughout the Midwest. We do a lot of marketing in major cities, and those visitors along with the season pass holders have really been looking forward to hitting the slopes."
Right now, two upper hills and a lower hill and beginner area are open to snowboarders and skiers. The hill has more than 70 runs. More snow is needed to open all of those runs.
The hill will close on Monday so more snowmaking can take place. They hope to reopen the following weekend and for the season on December 10th.
