Benton County murder defendant waives extradition


FOLEY, Minn. (AP) -- A woman charged with fatally shooting her ex-husband in Benton County has waived extradition from South Dakota.

Thirty-eight-year-old Angelina Mae O'Mara appeared in court Monday in Sioux Falls, S.D. She's charged with second-degree murder in the death of James Kelly O'Mara. He was found in his Sauk Rapids apartment Nov. 1 with a gunshot wound to the head.

Authorities say O'Mara is also a suspect in the death of her boyfriend, Michael Pies. His body was found Nov. 2 in a motel room in Ashland, Wis. He was also shot in the head. O'Mara has not been charged in Pies' death.

Benton County Attorney Robert Raupp tells the St. Cloud Times ( ) O'Mara will likely be transported to Minnesota this week.
