WAUSAU (WAOW) -- Wausau city leaders are working to get other businesses to expand in the area.
"It's all about getting people back into business."
Romey Wagner has owned small businesses for six years. He says he knows how difficult it can be to get a company running.
"I formed my business with the first letter in the alphabet to get listed in the yellow pages in the right place. It's so different now," Wagner says.
Wausau community development leaders have planned an "Entrepreneurial Boot Camp," for up and coming small business owners.
"It's to help them find the information they need to put the whole package together. So, when they do start, they have the opportunity to succeed," Wagner said.
The four day boot camp will feature marketing, law and accounting professionals helping business owners come up with a plan, and turn their ideas into reality.
"They don't have to work all by themselves, alone in a garage. They test them with other people in the same boat as them," Assistant Community Development Director, Heather Wessling said.
But, it's not just for business owners. City officials say it's for anyone wanting to learn more about starting a company.
"We offer the educational opportunities to enhance what they're doing from a small business stand point," Mark Borowicz, Dean of Business's and Industry Solutions at NTC said.
And Wagner says helping small businesses will do big things for the economy.
"We need to get excited. There are so many opportunities in Wausau," Wagner explained.
The boot camp will be held on Thursday Dec. 1 from 5-9 p.m. Friday Dec. 2 from 5-9 p.m. Saturday Dec. 3 from 8-4 p.m. and Monday Dec. 5 from 5-9 p.m.
