4th Dem to run for Baldwin's congressional seat

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Political newcomer Matt Silverman of Madison says he's running for Congress to replace U.S. Rep. Tammy Baldwin, a fellow Democrat.

Silverman tells The Associated Press he'll formally announce his candidacy Wednesday evening.

The 29-year-old says he earned undergraduate and law degrees from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. He says he also earned a Bronze Star Medal and several other medals as a soldier in Iraq.

Silverman says Congress has been set up to fail because special interests have impaired the ability of politicians to make tough decisions. He says he'll counter that by accepting donations only from individuals, not organizations.

Three other Democrats are running for Baldwin's seat. They are state Reps. Mark Pocan and Kelda Helen Roys and Dane County Treasurer Dave Worzala.

No Republicans have entered the race yet.
