West Business Services announce 100 jobs to Wausau

WAUSAU (WAOW) --  "I've been sending my resume from Arizona to Delaware," Marv Hafenbreadl said.

After losing his construction company due to the economy, Hafenbreadl says it's time to start fresh.

"I'm fifty years old now and trying to re-start my life. It's kind of scary," Hafenbreadl explains.

Hafenbreadl is one of the hundreds of applicants applying for new full-time positions at West Business Services.  The company announced it chose the city of Wausau for expansion.

"It was the labor pool we're looking for and it was a decision we are very pleased with," Vice President of Client Operations Dan Vandaalwyk said.

West Business Services, a call center with offices across the state, say it will create more than 100 new jobs by March of 2012.  The new employees will work hands-on with new and existing clients.

"It's always about the people and that's the main reason we think this is the right expansion for our company," Vice President of West Business Services, Bill Mundy said.

But they haven't always been successful. Last year the company lost major clients, forcing them to downsize.  Lou Ann Piasecki was one of 30 employees left without a job.

"I was a little discouraged," Piasecki said.

But, with the new expansion, the company was able to bring back every employee that it let go.

"People pick us just as much as we pick them and we want the development to be long term for everyone," Mundy said.

And Hafenbreadl hopes he is the next one to join the team.  "I'm hoping. Crossing my fingers and hoping it will all go well," he says.
