WAUSAU (WAOW) - Tis the season to spread holiday cheer.  And show off that Christmas spirit with others in your community.

The Wausau holiday parade is this Friday night, starting at 6:30pm.

Some creative minds are at work, getting those floats ready.

They'll be judged among five different categories.. including Best Reason for the Season, Twinkle Float and Winter Wonderland.

Winners in each float category will have $100 donated in their names to a charity of their choice.

Kari Rasmussen/Wausau Area Events: "Families and friends get together. They have their special spots. They won't disclose where those special spots are. I think everyone has where they like to sit and stand with their friends. So a great opportunity for people to get together before the madness of the holidays starts."

The parade route starts at Marathon Park.

It runs east down Stewart Avenue, turns by the Marathon County Public Library and ends at the 400 block in downtown Wausau.

After the parade, Santa will light the Holiday Tree. Then he'll visit the Grand Theater's Great Hall .

Mrs. Claus will read a story.

And you can warm up with some hot chocolate.
