WESTON (WAOW) -- More than 500 athletes participated in a state bowling tournament on Saturday.
It was the Second Annual Special Olympics Northern Wisconsin Bowling Tournament.
Participants competed for ribbons and gold medals.
They represented the best in Special Olympic bowling in Northern Wisconsin.
Organizers said Wausau is a great place to host the tournament.
"The Wausau community is very close knit and I think Special Olympics means a lot up here," said Rachel Grant, Special Olympics Communications Assistant.
Organizers said they will be back in the Wausau area for their Winter Special Olympics.
