Investigators seek cause of major Pulaski fire

PULASKI, Wis. (AP) -- Investigators say it'll be Monday or Tuesday at the earliest before they determine what caused a fire that destroyed three buildings in downtown Pulaski.

Pulaski Fire Chief Randy Wichlacz tells the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel ( the fire appears to have started in a bowling alley around 11:30 p.m. Friday. He says it took 180 firefighters, 39 departments and 72 pieces of equipment 10 hours to get the blaze under control.

The bowling alley and two other buildings were destroyed. A fourth sustained severe smoke and water damage, and a fifth had minor smoke and fire damage.

Two firefighters from Howard and Pulaski suffered smoke inhalation and were taken to a hospital.

The Red Cross is helping as many as 40 people who were displaced during the fire.
