Food for Furry Friends gathers nearly a ton of food

WAUSAU (WAOW)--Local veterinarians collected 1567 pounds of pet food, to donate  to the non-profit, Neighbor's Place,  to help feed animals from needy families.

During the month of November, the Metro Animal Hospital in Schofield, Wittenberg Veterinary Clinic Companion and the Kronenwetter Veterinary Clinic collected donations of dry and canned animal foods.

This is the third year the clinics have run the pet food drive. Organizers credit area pet owners for helping make the donations possible. Dr. Linda Prosocki, owner of the Schofield and Wittenberg offices, said: "We are so grateful to our many generous clients and others in the community that made the large donation possible."

The clinics already plan to offer the donation program next holiday season. Organizers say the goal is to gather 2000 pounds of pet food.
