UPDATE: Teens killed in Marquette County crash

MARQUETTE CO (WKOW) -- A man is in jail after the car he was driving rolled over and killed two passengers.

Marquette County Sheriff Kim Gaffney says Kieffer Michel, 18, is being held in the Marquette County Jail on numerous felony charges.

Officials say Michel rolled his car on State Road 23 in the town of Packwaukee.  Two passengers, 17-year-old Brittney Griffey and 16-year-old Kristin Eggert, were thrown from the car.  Both died at the hospital.

Sheriff Gaffney says officials from his department will meet with the Marquette County District Attorney to review and recommend felony charges against Michel.

Police say speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.


MARQUETTE CO (WKOW) --  A 17-year-old is dead after a one-car rollover in Marquette County.

It happened on State Road 23 in the town of Packwaukee, west of Fern Road.

Police say an 18-year-old lost control of his car around a curve, and crashed into a ditch, rolling the car.

Two passengers were ejected from the car. Both were transported by Med Flight to UW Hospital.

17-year-old Brittney Griffey died at the hospital. Another passenger suffered life threatening injuries.

Police say speed, alcohol, and not-wearing seatbelts were factors in the cause of the injuries in the crash.

This is Marquette County's third traffic crash fatality in 2011.
