Eugene "Gene-o" Bembenek


Eugene "Gene-o" Bembenek age 69 of Rosholt passed away unexpectedly Monday December 12, 2011 at St. Michaels Hospital after becoming ill at his home.

A mass of Christian burial for Gene-o will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday December 15, 2011 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church in Rosholt. Rev. Greg Michaud will officiate. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Friends and relatives will gather to share memories before Mass Thursday from 9:30 AM until the time of services at the church. A general Rosary will be prayed at 10:00 AM Thursday at the church. Shuda Funeral Service is assisting the family.

Gene-o was born May 31, 1942 in Rosholt, the son of Victor and Martha (Goszkowicz ) Bembenek. He graduated from Rosholt High School in 1960. Gene-o married Sally Glodowski May 28, 1966 at St. Adalbert Catholic Church. The couple farmed in Rosholt for ten years before he began his career at Steel King. Gene-o retired in 2004, and since then has enjoyed working outside and keeping busy with various projects with his good friend and neighbor, John. He liked to hunt, watch Packer games, and enjoying the birds in his yard. Gene-o played in various bands in the Rosholt area over the years, and recently organized a family band called C.P.R., which included himself, his daughter, his son, and two nephews.

He is survived by his wife Sally, their daughter: Koren (Richard) Kurzewski, Rosholt. Their son Travis (Brenda Williams) Bembenek, Rosholt. Four grandchildren: Amber, Jordan, Rachel, and Daniel. Two sisters: Jeanette (Frank) Wierzba, Rosholt; Marion (Al) Eiden, Stevens Point. One brother Bill (Rose) Bembenek, Rosholt. Two sister-in-laws; Liz Bembenek and Jeanette Bembenek, both of Shantytown. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Eugene Jr, and two brothers: Victor and Ben.
