Boxer Arturo Gatti's widow to get $3.3M fortune

MONTREAL (AP) -- A Canadian judge has ruled that boxer Arturo Gatti's $3.3 million fortune will go to his widow.

Quebec Superior Court Justice Claudine Roy said Friday that Gatti's last will -- signed in 2009 -- declaring his wife Amanda Rodrigues as his sole heir was legitimate.

The verdict came after a legal battle over the fortune that pitted Gatti's widow against his mother and youngest brother.

The Gatti family, along with the mother of his other child, argued that the boxer was duped into signing the will just weeks before his mysterious death at a Brazilian resort in 2009.

Roy says Rodrigues did not control or manipulate Gatti into signing over his fortune to her.

The family argued that a U.S. will from 2007 that leaves everything to them should have been considered valid, but a signed copy has never been found.
