Judge Mangerson appointed to 3rd District Court of Appeals
MADISON (PRESS RELEASE) –Governor Scott Walker appointed Mark A. Mangerson of Rhinelander to serve as judge for the Third District Court of Appeals. Mangerson brings with him to the position over 20 years of experience as a Circuit Court judge.
"Judge Mangerson's years of experience make him well-versed in all aspects of law," Governor Walker said. "He knows the rules of evidence and uses them to deliver sound rulings."
Mangerson began his legal career in the Vilas County District Attorney's Office as an Assistant District Attorney. While in this position he served as a prosecutor on criminal felonies and misdemeanors. Mangerson then served as Oneida County's District Attorney before entering private law practices for almost ten years. During his time as a lawyer he engaged in general practice, criminal defense and all types of civil litigation.
"I have found Judge Mangerson to be a man of great courage and integrity, willing to set aside the popular sentiment or the politically popular point of view in favor of making a right and just ruling, no matter how controversial the case before him might be," said Eagle River attorney Steven M. Lucareli.
Phillips earned a Bachelor of Arts in English at Valparaiso University, and a Juris Doctor from the Valparaiso University Law School. Mangerson is active in the Rhinelander community, serving on the Kiwanis Club of Rhinelander and a trustee of the Robert Gaffney Memorial Teacher Scholarship Fund.
"During over two decades of practicing law, both as a prosecutor and defense attorney, I have come to know Judge Mangerson well," said Patrick "Buck" Schilling, Madison attorney. "He recognizes the judiciary is one branch of government and doesn't attempt to usurp the authority of the legislature. I have appeared before scores of judges over the years and I count Judge Mangerson as among the finest."
