STRATFORD (WAOW) - Despite tough economic times, a company in Stratford opened its hearts and wallets for a food drive. After collecting food item donations for more than two weeks, A&B Process Systems delivered them to 10 different charity organizations.
Each employee was challenged to donate as much food as they could this holiday season. The goal was to collect 1,000 items for charities in Marshfield and Wausau. The stainless steel supplier's four plants and corporate office collected eight times that amount, totaling 8,644 donations.
"It was put out to the employees as a challenge," said Denise Murphy, project coordinator. "It's just amazing to see how they all come together and in the tough times, everybody can still contribute."
Some of the charities that A&B donated to include the Ronald McDonald House, as well as the Hannah House women's shelter.
If you're wondering how A&B managed to raise so much, Murphy said the fundraiser quickly turned into a friendly competition between plants.
