Wausau bus fare increase

WAUSAU  (WAOW)--In  the face of a budget crunch Wausau Metro Ride bus service will make additional cuts.

The Wausau Transit Commission has approved plans to drop Saturday service, start daily routes a half hour later and increase fares.  It will now cost an additional 25 cents per ride to use the bus. That means adults will pay $1.50, seniors and the disabled 0.75 and students $1.25.

A $91,000 loss in shared revenue funding from Marathon County is blamed for the changes.  Greg Seubert of Metro Ride says :"This has been the perfect storm, the worst case scenario for us."

These latest cuts come on the heels of the decision to end service on the Weston line due to budget constraints.
