One person is dead following a crash on I-39 near Maple Ridge Road in the Village of Kronenwetter.

According to Kronenwetter police, a car rolled over on the median of I-39 at around 2:40 p.m. Officers say they found the driver trapped inside with serious injuries. No one else was in the car. Police say the driver was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead.

The winter storm that moved into the area Friday afternoon caused slick roads and made a mess for drivers. Marathon County Sheriff's officers say they received more than 100 emergency calls within a five-hour period. At least one other injury was reported among the many crashes that happened.

Workers with the Marathon County Highway Department say they were out clearing and salting the roads since 1:30 p.m. Friday.
