Firefighters revive 2 dogs after Madison blaze

MADISON, Wis. (AP) -- Madison firefighters have resuscitated two dogs that were found unresponsive after a house fire.

The blaze was reported Saturday afternoon. A neighbor driving past the unoccupied home reported seeing flames through the front window.

Fire crews entered the home and reported seeing heavy black smoke. They were able to extinguish the flames in minutes.

A Wisconsin State Journal report says a cat in the home was fine but the two dogs were unresponsive. Fire officials resuscitated the dogs using pet masks and oxygen.

The fire department estimates the fire caused $20,000 in damage. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
