MILWAUKEE (AP) -- A statewide organization is encouraging snowmobilers to take safety courses.
The Association of Wisconsin Snowmobile Clubs says the number of snowmobiles registered in the state last season increased 5 percent from the previous season. Snowmobilers also increased their mileage by 10 percent.
Association President Doug Johnson says an increase in snowmobilers and miles means a potential for more accidents.
The group says the courses teach basic safety, responsibilities, ethics, laws and mechanical functions.
