FOREST COUNTY (WAOW) -- Two people died in crashes in Forest County in the early hours of the new year.

According to the Forest County Sheriff's Department, Amy Griesbach, 38, of Oshkosh died in a crash in the Town of Nashville at around 12:45 a.m. Sunday. Officers say the vehicle lost control on South Shore Drive and hit several trees. They say alcohol and speed contributed to the crash. Officers say Brian D. Griesbach was arrested and taken to the Forest County Jail.

A second crash happened just after 6:00 a.m. Sunday in the Town of Nashville on Highway 55. Police say a vehicle hit a pedestrian and took off. The victim, Klynt Decorah, 41, died from his injuries.  Deputies say they later arrested Norbert Polar of Crandon in connection with that crime.
