Romney says he looks forward to a long GOP race

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) -- Mitt Romney is congratulating Rick Santorum and Ron Paul on their performances in the Iowa caucuses and says he's looking forward to a long GOP nomination race.

Romney spoke to supporters early Wednesday while still locked in a tight race with Santorum for victory in the first contest of the presidential nominating cycle. Paul looked to finish third.

Surrounded by his wife and family, Romney ignored barbs from other contenders for the GOP nomination. He focused his remarks on President Barack Obama, saying that Obama has mismanaged foreign policy, the economy and the federal deficit.

Romney says he is the candidate best equipped to manage the economy, and he's vowing to scrap Obama's signature health care plan.
