Walker campaign: 80 signs vandalized in SE Wis.

Posted:

SHEBOYGAN (AP) -- Sheboygan County residents on both sides of the "Recall Walker" debate say they've had signs vandalized.

Officials with Gov. Scott Walker's campaign say 80 of their signs have been damaged. Campaign chairwoman Susan Hundley says both sides feel passionate about their issues, but destroying property doesn't accomplish anything.

She provided pictures to WISN-TV (http://bit.ly/yHwHI4 ) showing pro-Walker signs slashed and shredded. She says people who are unhappy with the governor could write a letter to the editor or otherwise be more productive.

The Walker campaign is offering a $1,000 reward for information about the vandals.

At least one recall supporter says she too has had a sign vandalized. Music teacher Karen Howland says a homemade sign in her yard was damaged. She says she's disturbed by the animosity in Wisconsin politics.
