Gerald "Jerry" Kohnhorst, 87, of Wausau died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at Mount View Care Center, Wausau.

He was born March 12, 1924 in Wausau to the late Henry and Clara (LaBon) Kohnhorst.

Jerry spent a long life as a hard working individual, having worked on the family farm as a young man, along with several companies over the years including, Muskegan Piston Ring, Wausau Homes in Wausau and Ottumwa, Iowa, Overhead Door, Merrill, and Walmart, Wausau.

Jerry's passions included hunting, fishing, ice fishing, yard work, and inventions of many sorts to make life and chores easier.

Survivors include his wife Marion of Wausau, two daughters, Cindy (Kurt) Beidle of Wausau, Lori (Jim) Hein of Neenah, four grandchildren, Michael (Cindy) Beidle of Oshkosh, Amy Hein of Appleton, Kristen (Josh) Oshefsky of Neenah, Steven (Azra) Hein of Jacksonville, NC, three great grandchildren, Kody and Alyssa Beidle, Layla Hein, and two sisters, Phyllis Lunt of Wausau and Marcia (Gary) Brick of Black Creek. Jerry was further preceded in death by one brother and his wife, Douglas (Jean) Kohnhorst and brother-in-law, Clifford Lunt.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 7, 2012 at Rib Mountain Lutheran Church, 3010 Eagle Ave., Wausau. Rev. Thomas Hoelter will officiate. Entombment will be in the Garden of Eternal Rest Mausoleum at Restlawn Memorial Park, Wausau. Visitation will be Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.
